How to Upgrade Alienware Command Center v5.x to the Latest Version

If the computer is running Alienware Command Center v5.5.49 or earlier, Windows Smart Application Compliance (SAC) settings may cause an error when attempting to upgrade directly to v6.x. Instead, the user must upgrade to the latest version of 5.5.x and then upgrade to v6.x.

Note: This applies to any legacy computers that can run AWCC 6.x, is running AWCC version 5.5.49 or older, and has SAC mode turned ON.

Automatic migration from AWCC 5.x to AWCC 6.x is triggered with either one of the below steps:

  • Launch AWCC v6.x full installer for the computer downloaded from dell SupportAssist.
  • Choose to upgrade to AWCC v6.x when a new Pro series device is connected to the computer for the first time.

The migration process is interrupted with a message to upgrade to the latest version of AWCC 5.5.x.

To upgrade to v6.x, follow the below steps:

  1. Go to the Dell support assist page and search for AWCC 5.5.x
  2. Download the latest version of 5.5.x and upgrade
  3. Restart the computer after upgrading AWCC
  4. Launch the full installer of AWCC v6.x to migrate from 5.5.x successfully
