Symptoms

Warning received on the console during the boot process:

RETBleed: Warning: Spectre v2 mitigation leaves CPU vulnerable to RETBleed attacks, data leaks possible!

Cause

The default VM hardware version for SCG Appliance and Policy Manager appliance is 8. This is also seen as VM Compatibility.

 

Resolution

Through the vSphere client, upgrade the VM hardware version to a minimum of version 9 or a recommended version of 17.
