Excessive movement is causing Laptop mode to be triggered

 

Owning Dell G15 5530, G16 7630 gaming laptops and playing a game or using a heavy loading GPU application may cause the following issue: (Graphical Processor Unit)

You can trigger laptop mode by holding the laptop at a certain angle, or excessive shaking, movement of the laptop. This causes the in game Frames Per Second (FPS) to drop or can cause the performance to worsen.

Cause

Note: The laptop is working as expected under these conditions.
 

Laptop mode limits the GPUs power consumption and causes the performance to deteriorate when there is heavy loading on the GPU.

Resolution

The following steps stop you from triggering Laptop mode:

  1. Keep the laptop at a fixed or horizontal angle during use.

  2. Do not move the laptop during use.

  3. Restart the laptop and open the game or the application which is using the GPU heavily.

  4. Avoid shaking the laptop during use.
