BIOS Update for FS7500 controller Nodes

Dell Technologies recommends that the following BIOS update be applied to FS7500 controller nodes.

BIOS v6.3.0: This cumulative BIOS update is packaged with previously released fixes and also corrects the following issues:

  • Potential Multi-Bit Errors and machine Check Errors resulting from Intel erratum BD123 with C-states enabled, averting possible system unresponsive at POST during memory initialization.

Dell EqualLogic FS Series Firmware v4.0.400005 contains some key maintenance fixes on top of v.4.0.230030 that introduced FluidFS v4 support to the FS76x0 and FS7500. It must be installed after a PS Series firmware update to v8.1.x.

In order to upgrade to PS Series v8.1.x and FS Series v4.0.400005, minimum supported versions are PS Series v8.0.x and FS Series v3.0.940200.

FluidFSv4 introduces a host of improvements in protocol support, management, and performance.

  • Support for the SMB 3.0 (CLI only), NFS v4 ACLs, and NFS v4.1 protocols
  • Directory Quotas (CLI only)
  • Automatic SMB home folder creation
  • Active Directory Status Display Enhancements
  • Supports Replication between Dissimilar size clusters
