Use the following procedure:
- Open the CLI using the console or management IP for your S-series switch.
- Log in to the privileged exec mode using your management credentials.
- To verify existing VLAN configurations use the Show vlan command, press enter.
NOTE: VLAN 1 is default and active on factory-default configurations.
- To create VLANs, run the configure terminal command to edit the switch configuration, press enter.
- To create a single VLAN, use the interface VLAN command where X is the VLAN number, press enter.
- To create a range of VLANs, use the interface range vlan command followed by the VLAN numbers you want to add. For consecutive VLANs, use a hyphen. For nonconsecutive ranges, use a comma. You can also combine consecutive and nonconsecutive ranges if you must make bulk changes at one time.
Example:
- Consecutive range of VLANs 3 through 5 is: interface range vlan 3-5.
- Nonconsecutive range of VLANs 3,10, and 200 is: interface range vlan 3,10,200.
- A mix of consecutive and nonconsecutive VLANs is: interface range vlan 3-5,10,200.
- To back out of the privileged exec mode, type End, press enter.
- To verify the changes, rerun the command Show interface VLAN.
- Once you have validated the changes and are ready to save your changes to the startup configuration, use the write memory command, press enter.
