Dell Trade In is a simple-to-use service, available anytime at https://tradein.dell.com. Customers with eligible Dell and non-Dell devices can receive credit to be used toward product or service purchases at Dell.com. If the device does not qualify for trade in credit, we recycle it for you, for free.

If you have purchased and received any Dell product or service within 30 calendar days of when your Dell Trade In credit is activated, and your purchase equals or exceeds the amount stated on TradeIn.Dell.com at the time of activation? You may be able to transfer the full amount of your Dell Trade-In credit to another available payment method. A valid Dell purchase ID is required to initiate the process.

If after entering your device information you receive a status that states that the device is not eligible for Dell Trade In credit, you can recycle it for free with Dell. Here is how:

Timelines to complete the trade-in process can vary depending upon when the device is shipped, actual shipping duration, device inspection duration, and credit processing time. On average, your credit is available to you within three to four business days after the device is received at our processing center. This timeframe allows us to complete our thorough automated inspection and credit process.
If your device is eligible for trade-in, Dell packages and ships it for you, for free. All you must do is take your package with your QR code from the email we sent you to the FedEx Office near you. (For Example: Device, power adapter, and cable.)
If your Dell or non-Dell device is eligible for recycling, then pack your device in any suitable box you may have. Then take your packed device and the QR code from the email that we sent you to your nearest FedEx Office. Dell covers the cost of shipping.
Yes, if you have them, include chargers and cables with your device.
The as-built configuration of the device is one of several key attributes that are considered in determining eligibility for Dell Trade In credit. Upgrades made to your device after its purchase are not typically considered in assessing credit value.
Yes, you can choose to remove the upgraded components, such as RAM, graphics card, and so forth. Replace the upgraded components with the original factory components in the device before you ship it.
Per the Service Description, once you have shipped your device, it cannot be returned to you.
Once you have shipped your device, the trade-in transaction cannot be cancelled. However, you may choose to not ship your device and the trade-in transaction is cancelled automatically.
No. When you accept the Service Description on the Dell Trade In page, you are confirming that you have the necessary rights to trade in, recycle, or sell your device.
We accept one device per Dell Trade In transaction currently, however, you may submit multiple transactions if you choose to trade in more than one device.
Your Dell Trade-In credits is eligible for purchase of products or services on Dell.com.

Whether you choose to redeem your Dell Trade In credit balance with a new Dell purchase or transfer your Dell Trade In credit balance to an available payment method, once decided, your request cannot be reversed. Please note that the terms and conditions of issuing financial institutions for the available payment method will apply to the use of the available payment method.
In the rare instance where there is an issue with trying to use your credit on a Dell site, contact us. Provide the URL of that site, the approximate amount of the charge and the time and date of the attempt to tradein@dell.com.
Your Service Tag is located on the bottom of your Dell device. Reference Locate your Service Tag or Serial Number for more information.
Once your device is received at our processing center and our thorough inspection is completed. Your final Dell Trade In credit is securely issued to you by email. This is completed within three to four business days.
Once you receive your first Dell Trade In notification email with an estimated credit value, you have thirty (30) days to ship your device. If you do not ship your device within the thirty (30) days of that first email notification, your Dell Trade In transaction expires. You must begin a new transaction if you want to continue your Dell Trade-In.
No. However, if you have not used your available credit within a year of receiving it and experience issues using it, email Dell Customer Care for assistance.
Once your device is received at our processing center, the first step is a thorough, automated inspection. The second step is a complete sanitization of your device and associated drives of all data.
The inspection results determine if the device is eligible for resale, and if its parts can be used for repairs or if it should be recycled.
Before you ship your device, we highly recommend that you erase all the data from your device and associated drives. Once we receive your device at our processing center, your device and associated drives are thoroughly sanitized of all data.

We keep you updated on the status of your trade in through email notifications sent to you. Check the details of your Dell Trade In credit on the Dell Trade In page. Or, email tradein@dell.com for more help and include the Dell Trade In transaction number in your email. The Dell Trade In transaction number is provided to you in all email notifications sent to you.
Once your device is received at our processing center, we send you an email notification within two to three business days. Your Dell Trade In credit is processed about a day later.

The Dell Trade In credit amount provided on the Dell Trade In website is an estimate of the potential credit value. This same estimated credit value is also provided to you in your first Dell Trade In email notification. This estimated value is based on information that you provided about your device on the Dell Trade In website.
Once the device is received at our processing center, a mandatory thorough automated device inspection is conducted. In rare cases, the results of inspection and any mismatches discovered could impact your Dell Trade In credit value. A secure email is sent to you with the final trade in credit value that can be put towards your next purchase on Dell.com.
