Secure Connect Gateway 5.x is the flagship of our Dell Remote Connectivity solutions. It allows your Dell products to report their status and possible issues back to Dell, which can trigger Service Requests and actions before you even have to lift a finger. It also optionally allows specific Dell Support teams to remotely access your Dell product to maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot without the need for you and a Dell engineer to go into your data center. Do look at our
Getting Started with Remote Connectivity article.
SCG 5 is the latest in the line of solutions like this from Dell, previous solutions include SupportAssist Enterprise and Secure Remote Services.
SCG 5 Offerings
- SCG 5.x Appliance (Virtual) Edition, which is a virtual machine you can install in your Data center to cover all Dell Enterprise products (Servers, networking, storage, and so forth) with full functionality.
- SCG 5.x Application Edition, which is an application to install on your Windows\Linux server for PowerEdge, PowerSwitch and similar products only, this also has limited functionality.
How can you get the value-add of SCG 5.x?
We assume you already bought a Dell Enterprise product to connect using SCG 5.x. This is a prerequisite, check the SCG 5.x documentation on the Dell Support Website.
Go to
Support for Secure Connect Gateway | Overview | Dell US and click the Documentation tab.
If you recently bought Dell Enterprise products associated with Dell Professional Services
Our Professional Services (PS) offers for installing Dell products include installing SCG 5.x and connecting the products in that PS project. Some exceptions exist, check with your Professional Services Project Manager.
All other scenarios
We recommend you self-install SCG 5.x from the Dell Support Website. Download the software and documentation set, then use the Pre-Site Checklist to go step by step through the process. Dell Support is available if you run into issues.
Alternatively you may want Dell to install the solution. To enable this option, open a Dell Service Request on the Dell Support Website for SCG 5 and ask for this. The install can typically be done remotely, but most actions require your interaction, such as adjusting your Firewalls, network routing, and adding your devices.
