Note: SyncIQ copies data and file level permissions to the target path.
The target path turns "Read-Only" when SyncIQ replication is set up so ensure it is not used unless the SyncIQ relationship is broken.
Step 1: Create a target Share or determine to which directory the data must be copied.
Manually creating directory using OneFS CLI:
Go to wanted path:
cd /ifs/data/xxx/xxxx mkdir <target folder name>
Note: If target directory exists, above step is not needed.
Step 2: Set up SyncIQ replication to copy data to the target directory.
Note: This causes the target path to become Read-Only.
From OneFS CLI, run the below command to setup SyncIQ replication.
isi sync pol create <policyname> copy <source path> localhost <target path>
Flags:
copy: This copies the source data to target. However, it does not delete upon modification. If synchronization is needed, use the flag "synchronize" instead.
localhost: This flag must be used if both source and target path exist in the same cluster.
Start the job manually:
isi sync job start <policyname>
Step 3: Check data copy progress and sync status.
isi sync pol view <policyname>
From the above command output, determine the last sync time and if we are set to break replication.
isi sync target list This command shows the syncIQ policyname and target path as writes_disabled.
Step 4: Break syncIQ association between source and target to make target read/write.
isi sync target break <policyname> This breaks the syncIQ relationship between source and target paths and make the target path as read/write.
Other Checks: Verify data in the target directory.
If copying data to another share, ensure that proper permissions are set up on share level.
