Removal Instructions

Note: Be aware that using a large Phillips or Flat Head screwdriver may result in damage to the head of the screws. This would make their removal impossible without specialty tools, that are not available to our onsite engineers.

 

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Stand:

    1. During installation or removals of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. To remove the Stand with the system lying on it is screen. Press up the catch at the bottom of the back plate on the Stand.

  1. Pull the plate towards the bottom of the system and lift it up and away from the back of the PC.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    4. Remove the Stand and the Cable Cover.

  2. With the system still on its screen. Locate the release tab that was under the back plate of the Stand. Press the tab in.

  1. Slide the cover towards the top of the system until it unseats from the securing lugs and lift it off the system.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the System Board Shield:

    1. During installation or removals of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand and the Back Cover.

  2. With the system on its screen, the shield covers the center of the system. Remove the five (5) screws that secure the shield to the system.

  1. Lift the shield up towards the top of the system and away from the Motherboard.

 

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Memory Cards:

    1. During installation or removals of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand and the Back Cover.

  2. With the system on its screen, pry up on the Memory door on the right-hand side of the System Board Shield.

  1. Pull the retention clips on either side of the Memory away from each other until the Memory pops up at an angle. Lift it out of the system.

Note: Repeat steps 2 and 3 for any additional memory that is installed in the system.

    1. During installation or removals of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand and the Back Cover.

  2. Press down the tab securing the hard-drive assembly to the system-board shield. Slide and lift the hard-drive assembly from the slot on the display-assembly base.

  1. Pry the tabs on hard-drive bracket from its slots on the hard drive. Remove the hard drive from the hard-drive bracket.

 

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Solid State Drive (SSD) or Intel Optane Card:

    1. During installation or removals of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, System Board Shield.

M.2 2230 SSD/Optane Memory Module

  1. Locate the M.2 connector below the memory, under the system shield. Remove the single screw that secures the card to the chassis.

  1. The card pops up at an angle. Pull the card carefully out of the connector and system.

  1. Locate the M.2 connector above the memory, under the system shield. Remove the single screw that secures the card to the chassis.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the System Fan:

    1. During installation or removals of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, System Board Shield.

  2. The fan is located above the HDD. Disconnect the system fan cable from the socket on the motherboard. Remove the three (3) screws securing the fan to the system.

  1. Lift the fan up and out of the system.

 

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Coin Cell Battery:

    1. During installation or removals of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, System Board Shield.

  2. Locate the Battery under the system shield. Press the tab at the back of the coin cell Battery socket until the Battery pops up.

  1. Lift the Battery up and out of the socket.

 

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the WLAN Card:

    1. During installation or removals of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, System Board Shield.

  2. Remove the two screws securing the WLAN shield covering the WLAN card in the bottom-left corner, under the Shield. Unroute the antenna cabling from the shield and remove the shield.

  1. Remove the single screw securing the antenna cover and the card to the chassis.

  2. Remove the antenna connector shield. Disconnect the antenna cables from the WLAN card. (Pop stud connectors.)

  1. Pull the WLAN card out of the slot and away from the system.

 

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Camera Assembly:

    1. During installation or removals of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, System Board Shield.

  2. Remove the two (2) screws marked CAM that secures the assembly door to the chassis.

  1. Remove the two (2) screws that secure the assembly to the chassis.

  2. Disconnect the assembly cable from the motherboard and unroute the cable.

  1. Slide the assembly out of the system and away from the chassis.

    1. During installation or removals of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, System Board Shield.

  2. Remove the four (4) screws that secure the base cover to the chassis. Gently pry up the tabs running across the top edge of the base cover.

  1. Lift the bottom cover up and off the chassis.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Power Supply (PSU):

    1. During installation or removals of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, Base Cover, System Board Shield.

  2. Remove the single screw securing the PSU socket to the I/O bracket. Slide the socket towards the bottom of the system to remove it from the system.

  1. Unroute the psu cables from the routing clips on the system and PSU fan and disconnect the power cable from the motherboard.

  2. Remove the single screw that secures the PSU to left-hand side of the system.

  1. Slide the psu towards the top of the system and lift it up and out of the system.

 

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions Before removing the Power Supply Fan:

    1. During installation or removals of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, Base Cover, System Board Shield.

  2. Unroute the PSU power cables from the routing clips on the PSU fan.

  3. Disconnect and unroute the PSU fan cable from the motherboard.

  1. Remove the two (2) screws that secure the fan to the system. Lift the PSU fan up and out of left-hand side of the system.
