Removal Instructions

 

 

Recommended Tools

1 Small Phillip's head screwdriver 2 Plastic Scribe
3 Small Flat head screwdriver    
 
Note: Be aware that using a large Phillips or Flat Head screwdriver may result in damage to the head of the screws. This would make their removal impossible without specialty tools, that are not available to our onsite engineers.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Palmrest and Keyboard Assembly:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Turn the closed system upside down and Loosen the nine (9) captive screws in the base.

Palmrest Assembly 01

  1. Turn the system over onto its base and open the system up flat to the desk. Use a non-metallic tool to pry the palmrest up from the base. Start at the hinges and work on the left and right sides of the palmrest.

Note: The system can automatically power on when the lid is opened past a 5-degree angle. If this happens, press the power button to power off the system and proceed with the disassembly steps.
 
  1. Open and hold the palmrest at a 45-degree angle, then release it from the chassis. (Remember that there are cables connecting the palmrest to the motherboard, that you do not want to damage.) Flip over the palmrest to expose inside the system and disconnect the black cable from above the battery.

  1. Disconnect the two ribbon cables from the touchpad to the motherboard.

  1. Lift the disconnected palmrest and keyboard away from the system.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Speakers:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Palmrest and Keyboard Assembly.

  2. Disconnect the speaker cable from the connector above the coin cell battery on the motherboard. Remove the securing tape from the speaker cable and un-route it from the channel on the base.

  1. Lift the two speakers from the location posts and out of the chassis.

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Coin Cell Battery:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Palmrest and Keyboard Assembly.

  2. The coin cell battery is located above the right-hand side corner of the battery. Disconnect the coin cell cable from the motherboard and pry the coin cell battery up to release it from the adhesive.

Coin Cell Battery

  1. Lift the coin cell battery out of the system.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Audio Board:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Palmrest and Keyboard Assembly and Speakers.

  2. Disconnect the audio board cable from the connector beside the coin cell battery. Remove the two screws securing the board to the chassis.

Audio Board

  1. Lift the board up and out of the system.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the World-Facing Camera:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Remove the Palmrest and Keyboard Assembly.

  2. Disconnect the world-facing camera cable from the connector in the motherboard located between the hinges. Remove the single screw securing the module to the chassis.

World-Facing Camera

  1. Lift the module up and out of the system.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the M.2 Solid State Drive (SSD):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Palmrest and Keyboard Assembly.

  2. The M.2 SSD card slot is located above the battery. Remove the single screw securing the end of the card and thermal plate to the chassis. Remove the thermal plate.

SSD

  1. The card will pop up at an angle from the motherboard. Grip the card and pull it out of the connector and the system.
