Symptoms

Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter to help resolve the "Windows 10 update error 0x80070002".

Cause

To run the Windows Update Troubleshooter, perform the following steps.

  1. Press and hold the Windows (Windows Button) key, and then press the i key.  
  2. Touch or click Update & Security.  
  3. Touch or click Troubleshoot.  
  4. Touch or click Windows Update and follow the prompts.  
  5. Restart the computer after the Windows Update Troubleshooter finshes.  
  6. Run Windows update again.
