No other Dell EMC Enterprise products shipped with these SSD drives.

Dell EMC identified that Dell EMC Enterprise SSD drives, model numbers LT0200MO, LT0400MO, LT0800MO, LT1600MO, LT0800RO, LT1600RO, LT0200WM, LT0400WM and LT0800WM with firmware prior to D417 will fail at 40,000 power-on hours resulting in possible data loss. Dell EMC recommends upgrading to firmware D417 (or newer) to address this failure.

Details:

Dell EMC Enterprise SSD drives, model numbers LT0200MO, LT0400MO, LT0800MO, LT1600MO, LT0800RO, LT1600RO, LT0200WM, LT0400WM and LT0800WM with firmware prior to D417 have a firmware issue that will result in drive failure at 40,000 power-on hours. A failed drive due to this firmware issue will result in the drive report of 0 GB of available storage, drive will go offline and become unusable after a power cycle in a format corrupted state (drive reports 03/31/00).

Upgrade the drive firmware to version D417 (or newer). Upgrading the drive firmware to version D417 (or newer) prior to 40,000 power-on hours should address this issue.

Please visit the Drivers and Downloads site for updates on the applicable products. Note, the following list of impacted products updates are linked.

  • For PowerEdge servers, Dell Storage MD1400 and MD1420, Dell Storage NX3230 and DSS7500
    • Download D417 firmware.
    • Upgrade the firmware with the Dell Update package, to learn more visit Dell Updating Firmware using Dell Update Packages (DUP’s). Alternately, the firmware upgrade can also be applied through iDRAC, Repository Manager or OpenManage Enterprise.
      SLN320176_en_US__2icon Ensure the following conditions do not exist for the drive(s):
      1. Any Virtual Disk that is not optimal.
      2. A RAID container that is performing a Background Initialization or Consistency Check.
      3. A Rebuild, Resync, or copyback function is taking place.
      4. A RAID set that is Partially Degraded or in a Degraded state.
      This update will run on drives remaining in a RAID set that is in a Offline state.
  • For PowerVault MD32 series, MD34 series, MD36 series and MD38 series
    • Download D417 firmware.
    • Upgrade the driver firmware with the Modular Disk Storage Manager (MDSM) management application.
      1. Unzip package to management station (server running MDSM Software)
      2. From the array management window select Advanced > Maintenance > Download > Physical Disk Firmware...
      3. Wizard will start with instructions on how to update drive firmware
