If problems are encountered during cluster creation, the standard means of connecting to an appliance and retrieving logs are not available. This is because the only configured IPs when an appliance is in a factory state are the discovery IP and Service LAN IPs.
If the PowerStore is not yet initialized (factory state), there are two options to connect to the appliance:
Using the AVAHI discovery IP Address
Select the appliance in the PowerStore Discovery Tool, click
Create Cluster. A browser opens, and the discovery IP of the appliance is shown in the browser address bar.
SSH into service container over the discovery IP from the system where the Discovery Tool is installed. Use port 26 (port 22 does not work in this noninitialized state). The discovery IP is generally on Node A.
Because the appliance is still in factory state, the default user credentials for service container are:
- Username: service
- Password: service
Using the Service LAN ports
The full details can be found here:
PowerStore: SSH and PowerStore Manager access using the Service LAN Ports.
Summary:
- Connect a laptop to the Service Port.
- Configure laptop’s Ethernet interface to 128.221.1.249/24.
- SSH into the service container using the service IP addresses:
Node A: 128.221.1.250/24
Node B: 128.221.1.251/24
- Once connected, gather the support materials. See PowerStore: How to generate and collect various logs from PowerStore.
- To transfer the log bundle off the appliance:
