The filer is not shipped with the httpd.mimetypes file. Instead, the filer''s system files include a sample file named httpd.mimetypes.sample. Before you start using HTTP, make a copy of httpd.mimetypes.sample and name the copy httpd.mimetypes.
If the file httpd.mimetypes is not installed, the HTTP server looks for the file httpd.mimetypes.sample.
After successfully installing Data OnTAP 5.3.x, the following message might appear in the PowerVault 720N, 740N, and 760N (filer) systems messages log: [httpd_acceptor]: HTTP MIME Types file (/etc/httpd.mimetypes) is missing
For HTTP/1.0 and higher protocols, a MIME header is returned in the reply of every GET request. This header includes a Content-Type field, whose content is determined by examining the suffix of the file being transmitted.
The httpd.mimetypes file contains the mapping of filename suffixes to MIME Content-Type. The format of each line is suffix, Content-Type. Comments are introduced with a # character.
