The three LED indicator lights on the top cover and above the keyboard of the system specify the following:

Alternately blinking amber light and white light |
Try testing the notebook with a known good adapter. Where possible test the system on a docking station to see if the error changes. |
Temporary battery failure with AC adapter present. |
Alternately blinking amber light with steady white light |
Try re-seating the battery where possible. If available test the system with a known good battery to see if the error changes. Try running the online battery diagnostics. |
Fatal battery failure with AC adapter present. |
Constantly blinking amber light |

Battery in full charge mode with AC adapter present. |

No action required battery fully charged. |
