When leveraging the Windows 2016 or Windows 2012 R2 in-box Intel® iSCSI drivers for boot from iSCSI target, an 0x7B Inaccessible Boot Device Blue Screen error may occur while booting from Intel i350-t Adapter initiator. This issue is limited to the in-box Intel i350 driver included in the Windows 2016 and Windows 2012 R2 operating system installation media images.
The text of the error and an image follow (Figure 1 [English-only]):
You can manually specify the Intel® iSCSI driver during the Windows installation. Extract the files from the Network_Driver_3PT51_WN64_18.0.0_A00.EXE Dell Update Package (DUP) to a USB thumb drive with the following command from an elevated CMD prompt: Network_Driver_XXXXX_WN64_XX.X.X_A00.exe /s /drivers=C:\mydir
During the Windows installation, you will need to use the Load Driver option from the Custom: Install Windows only (advanced) menu (Figure 2 [English-only]).
