Note: Be aware that using a large Phillips or Flat Head screwdriver may result in damage to the head of the screws. This would make their removal impossible without specialty tools that are not available to our onsite engineers.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Stand:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. To remove the Stand with the computer laying on its screen. Press up the catch at the bottom of the back plate on the Stand.

Stand 01

  1. Pull the plate towards the bottom of the computer and lift it up and away from the back of the chassis.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Cable Cover (Optional):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand.

  2. Unroute the cables from the cable cover that sits over the rear connector panel.

Cable Cover 01

  1. Remove the single screw that secures the cover to the chassis.

Cable Cover 02

  1. Lift the cable cover off the chassis.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Back Cover:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand and the Cable Cover.

  2. The computer is still laying on its screen. Locate the release tab that was under the back plate of the Stand. Press the tab in.

Back Cover 01

  1. Slide the cover towards the top of the computer until it unseats from the securing lugs and lift it off the chassis.

Back Cover 02

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the System Board Shield:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand and the Back Cover.

  2. With the computer laying on its screen, the shield covers the center of the computer. Remove the five (5) screws that secure the shield to the chassis.

System Shield 01

  1. Lift the shield up towards the top of the computer and away from the Motherboard.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Memory Cards:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand and the Back Cover.

  2. With the computer laying on its screen, pry up on the Memory door on the right-hand side of the shield.

Memory 01

  1. Pull the retention clips on either side of the Memory away from each other until the Memory appears at an angle. Lift it out of the computer.

Note: Repeat steps 2 and 3 for however many additional memory modules that are installed in the computer.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Hard Disk Drive (hard drive):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand and the Back Cover.

  2. With the computer laying on its lid, the hard drive is located on the right-hand side of the System Shield. Press down on the blue release tab next to the shield and pull the hard drive towards the right-hand side of the computer.

HDD 01

  1. Once the bracket pegs are released from the chassis, lift the bracket and drive out of the computer. Pry one side of the bracket off to release the bracket.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the solid state drive (SSD) or Intel Optane Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, System Board Shield.

M.2 2230 SSD/Optane memory module

  1. Locate the M.2 connector above the memory, under the system shield. Remove the single screw that secures the card to the chassis.

SSD 01

  1. The card appears at an angle. Pull the card carefully out of the connector and computer.

M.2 2280 SSD/Optane memory module

  1. Locate the M.2 connector above the memory, under the system shield. Remove the single screw that secures the card to the chassis.

SSD 02

  1. The card appears at an angle. Pull the card carefully out of the connector and computer.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Fan:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, System Board Shield.

  2. The fan is located above the hard drive. Disconnect the fan cable from the socket on the motherboard. Remove the three (3) screws securing the fan to the computer.

Fan 01

  1. Lift the fan up and out of the computer.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Coin Cell Battery:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, System Board Shield.

  2. Locate the Battery under the system shield. Press the tab at the back of the coin-cell Battery socket until the Battery appears.

Coin 01

  1. Lift the Battery up and out of the socket.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the WiFi, Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, System Board Shield.

  2. Remove the two screws securing the WLAN shield covering the WLAN card in the bottom-left corner, under the Shield. Unroute the antenna cabling from the shield and remove the shield.

WiFi 01

  1. Remove the single screw securing the antenna cover and the card to the chassis.

  2. Remove the antenna connector shield. Disconnect the antenna cables from the WLAN card. (Pop stud connectors.)

WiFi 02

  1. Pull the WLAN card out of the slot and away from the computer.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Camera Assembly:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, System Board Shield.

  2. Remove the two (2) screws marked CAM that secures the assembly door to the chassis.

Camera 01

  1. Remove the two (2) screws that secure the assembly to the chassis.

  2. Disconnect the assembly cable from the motherboard and unroute the cable.

Camera 02

  1. Slide the assembly out of the computer and away from the chassis.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Base Cover:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, System Board Shield.

  2. Remove the five (5) screws that secure the base cover to the chassis. Gently pry up the tabs running across the top edge of the base cover.

Base Cover 01

  1. Lift the bottom cover up and off the chassis.

Base Cover 02

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Power Supply (PSU):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, Base Cover, System Board Shield.

  2. Remove the single screw securing the PSU socket to the I/O bracket. Slide the socket towards the bottom of the computer to remove it from the computer.

PSU 01

  1. Unroute the PSU cables from the routing clips on the computer and PSU fan and disconnect the power cable from the motherboard.

  2. Remove the single screw that secures the PSU to the left-hand side of the computer.

PSU 02

  1. Slide the PSU towards the top of the computer and lift it up and out of the chassis.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Power Supply Fan:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Stand, Back Cover, Base Cover, System Board Shield.

  2. Unroute the PSU power cables from the routing clips on the PSU fan.

  3. Disconnect and unroute the PSU fan cable from the motherboard.

PSU Fan 01

  1. Remove the two (2) screws that secure the fan to the computer. Lift the PSU fan up and out of the left-hand side of the chassis.
