These guides will take you step by step through the safe removal of what are considered to be the Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) parts of a Latitude 5310 2-in-1 Notebook system. (CRUs are the parts of the system that shouldn't need an engineer to remove or replace.) The guides will also include pictures to reference what's involved.

Note: Be aware that using a large Phillips or Flat Head screwdriver may result in damage to the head of the screws. This would make their removal impossible without speciality tools, that aren't available to our onsite engineers.

 

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions before removing the MicroSD Memory Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. The Micro SD slot is located on the right-hand edge of the system. Push in gently on the card in the slot and release to have it pop out of the slot [1].

  1. Grip the card and pull it the rest of the way out of the slot [2].

 

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions before removing the Access Panel:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Please remove the Micro SD Memory

  2. Turn the system over on it's closed lid and loosen the eight (8) captive screws securing the access panel to the chassis.

  1. Using a plastic scribe or some other tool that won't mark the plastics, pry the cover up from the left-hand side hinge [1] and work clockwise around the access panel to release it from the chassis.

  1. Lift the panel up and away from the chassis.

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions before removing the Memory:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Please remove the Micro SD Memory and Access Panel.

    5. Please peel the adhesive tape from the battery and disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the system board.

  2. With the system placed on its closed lid, the memory is located in the middle of the system. Pull apart the metal clips holding the DIMM in place [1].

  1. When the DIMM lifts up at an angle to the base, pull it out of the socket and away from the system [2].

Note: Repeat the steps 2 and 3 for any additional memory DIMM's located in the system.

 

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions before removing the Solid State Drive (SSD):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Please remove the Micro SD Memory and Access Panel.

    5. Please peel the adhesive tape from the battery and disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the system board.

  2. With the system on its closed lid, the SSD is located in the bottom right-hand side corner of the system. Remove the two (M2x3) screws that secure the M.2 SSD support bracket to the palmrest [1]. 

  3. Slightly turn and remove the SSD support bracket from the M.2 SSD slot [2].

  1. Remove the single (M2x2) screw that secures the M.2 SSD to the palmrest [1]. 

  2. Lift the M.2 SSD away from the computer [2].

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions before removing the WWAN CARD (Cellular):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Please remove the Micro SD Memory and Access Panel.

    5. Please peel the adhesive tape from the battery and disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the system board.

  2. Remove the single (M2x3) screw that secures the WWAN card bracket to the WWAN card [1]. 

  3. Remove the WWAN card bracket from the WWAN card [2]. 

  4. Disconnect the antenna cables from the WWAN card [3]. 

  5. Slide and remove the WWAN card from the WWAN card slot. [4].

  1. Pre-Removal Instructions before removing the WLAN Card (WiFi, Wireless) :

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensure all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Please remove the Micro SD Memory and Access Panel.

    5. Please peel the adhesive tape from the battery and disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the system board.

  2. With the system on it's closed lid, the WLAN card is located in the top left-hand corner of the system. Remove the single (M2x2) screw that secures the WLAN card bracket to the system board [1]. 

  3. Remove the WLAN card bracket that secures the WLAN antenna cables [2].

  1. Disconnect the WLAN antenna cables from the connectors on the WLAN card [3]. 

  2. Slide and lift the WLAN card away from the connector on the system board [4].
