When moving your M630 or M640 from an M1000e chassis into a VRTX or conversely. Configure the Blade with the following steps:

Moving an M630 or M640 from a M1000e to a VRTX:

  1. Power off and remove the M630 or M640 from the M1000e Chassis.
  2. Move the M630 or M640 to an Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) safe environment.
  3. If any Mezzanine cards are installed in the M630 or M640, remove the Mezzanine cards and store them in a place with ESD protection.
  4. Install the 2 PCIe Mezzanine Bridge cards (Dell Part #3N9XX; A-SKU: 330-BBBM) into the System.
  5. Ensure that the VRTX CMC Firmware is at 3.0 or greater. Baseline 7 includes support for the latest baseline component versions until the next Baseline is defined.
  6. Install the M630 or M640 into the VRTX chassis.
  7. Once the M630 or M640 is powered on, and the Operating System (OS) is booted. Ensure that the Drivers are aligned with Baseline 7 in the link below.

Moving an M630 or M640 from a VRTX to a M1000e:

  1. Power off and remove the M630 or M640 from the VRTX Chassis.
  2. Move the M630 or M640 to an ESD safe environment.
  3. Remove the PCIe Mezzanine Bridge cards and store them in a place with ESD protection.
  4. Install the Mezzanine cards that align to the Fabrics that are configured on the M1000e.

  5. Ensure that the M1000e CMC Firmware is at 6.00 or greater. CMC 6.00 was released to allow support for the M640 on the M1000e chassis.
  6. Once the M630 or M640 is powered on and OS is booted. Ensure that the Drivers are installed for the Mezzanine cards that were installed in Step 4.
