Data Domain: Unsupported PSU on DD6300, DD6800, and DD9300-EOS

Symptoms

Appropriate changes were made within newer Data Domain Operating System (DDOS) versions to accept the revised PSUs.

A revised second Generation Power Supply Unit (PSU) is being shipped for the models listed below.

This may result in the Data Domain unit not recognizing the new PSU or an 'Unsupported PSU' warning seen within the BIOS.

Applies To:

  • DD6300, DD6800, DD9300
  • DP5300, DP5800, DP8300
  • DDOS 6.0 at or below DDOS 6.0.2.40
  • DDOS 6.1 at or below DDOS 6.1.2.30
  • DDOS 6.2 at or below DDOS 6.2.0.10

Symptoms:

  • PSU not recognized when inserted
  • Warning within the BIOS log (See Auto-Support or #log view debug/platform/bios.txt)

Cause

The second Generation PSUs are not currently recognized within the Data Domain Operating System (DDOS) as a supported hardware component.

 

Resolution

This issue is addressed in the following DDOS versions:

  • 6.0.2.50
  • 6.1.2.40
  • 6.2.0.20

 

Additional Information

DDOS version can be confirmed with the command.

#system show version

Firmware upgrade status can be checked with the command.
