Summary: RecoverPoint Site Recovery Manager(SRM): Can Direct-Access mode be used during SRM testing?

This article applies to This article does not apply to This article is not tied to any specific product. Not all product versions are identified in this article.

Symptoms

SRM testing with many writes and/or long duration on the target side

SRM test used Logged Access image access for target side hosts.
Customers running SRM testing are limited to the 20% of the Journal Size (TSP size default), if this fills up, image access is automatically disabled.

For long-duration SRM testing, direct access can be used.

Cause

The Target Side processing portion of the journal (20% be default) fills up during SRM testing.

Resolution

Resolution:
To enable direct access on an SRM-managed group, use the following after the SRM test started all VMs:
  1. In the RecoverPoint UI, select Protection -> Manage Protection -> Select the Consistency Group in question
  2. Go to the Group Policy tab
  3. Under External Management Select Managed By RecoverPoint
  4. Go to Recovery -> Manage Recovery
  5. Look for the CG in question - Select the "Select Next Action:" -> Continue testing
  6. Select "Enable Direct Access" link
  7. Answer Yes to the warning (Journal is lost, replication is paused)
  8. Press "Save & Close"
  9. Go back to Protection -> Manage Protection -> Select the Consistency Group in question
  10. Go to the Group Policy tab
  11. Under External Management Select Managed By External Application
