Symptoms
Access DD CIFS (e.g. mapping DD CIFS to Windows network drive) hung and timed out.
Cause
DNS is configured but not working, including
net lookup localhost
or
net lookup <DD-FQDN>
or
net lookup <DD-short-name>
net lookup localhost
or
net lookup <DD-FQDN>
or
net lookup <DD-short-name>
Resolution
Option 1: Change to working DNS, restart CIFS service and retry CIFS access.
net set dns <working-dns-ip-only>
cifs restart force
Option 2: Remove non-working DNS, restart CIFS service and retry CIFS access
net reset dns
or
net set dns <working-dns-ip-only>
cifs restart force
Option 3: Add hosts mapping, restart CIFS service and retry CIFS access
net hosts add <DD-IP> localhost.localdomain localhost
net hosts add <DD-IP> <DD-FQDN> <DD-short-name>
cifs restart force
net set dns <working-dns-ip-only>
cifs restart force
Option 2: Remove non-working DNS, restart CIFS service and retry CIFS access
net reset dns
or
net set dns <working-dns-ip-only>
cifs restart force
Option 3: Add hosts mapping, restart CIFS service and retry CIFS access
