Instructions

Dell EMC Unity array dials home with generic error code 14:60643 - The DPE has faulted (Critical Error)
A Dell EMC Unity system may report this error for different reasons. This is normally not a genuine DPE fault but just a problem with one of the DPE's components.
The most common trigger for this Dial Home is an SP reboot or panic.

Please note that this Symptom Code only applies to Dell EMC Unity OE 4.0 and 4.1, therefore this dial home will be auto-cancelled (Dell EMC Unity OE 4.2.0.x and later have different dial home codes for these events).

Symptom codes:
14:60643
neo14:60643

Description:
The DPE has faulted

Additional Information

The issues that lead to SP panics on Dell EMC Unity OE 4.0 and 4.1 are resolved in the current target code release, and therefore the general recommendation is to upgrade the system to Unity OE Target Code (refer to article Dell EMC Unity OE Revision Matrix (User Correctable) for information on target code versions).

If this error is transient in nature (GUI goes all green after a while), then most likely the cause was an SP reboot.
To determine if this might have been an SP reboot, login to the Unity over ssh with user "service", and run the linux command "last reboot" on both SPs:

service@(none) spb:~> last reboot
reboot   system boot  3.12.69-60.64.35 Tue Sep 19 15:26 - 11:16 (19+19:40)
reboot   system boot  3.12.69-60.64.35 Wed Aug 30 07:39 - 15:26 (20+07:46)

11:16:56 service@(none) spb:~> ssh peer
(to go to the secondary SP, in this case SPA)
11:17:01 service@(none) spa:~$ last reboot
reboot   system boot  3.12.69-60.64.35 Tue Sep 19 15:59 - 11:17 (19+19:17)

As specific SP reboot error codes are now available since Dell EMC Unity OE 4.2, it is recommended to upgrade to Target Dell EMC Unity OE.

If the error persists over a few hours, then there is probably a Hardware fault.
