How do I find what ports on the Unity array that are used for Synchronous Replication?
The whitepaper "Unity Replication Technologies" states that "Native synchronous block replication is performed over the first Fibre Channel (FC) port configured on the system." Therefore, the replication interface should be the first configured fibre channel port. The following commands can be used to verify.
With Unisphere CLI (uemcli), you can easily locate the synchronous block replication port by running the /remote/sys show -detail command. This command will return information for the local system, along with all the systems that replication connections have been established with. A sample output of this command with only the relevant information displayed is shown below.
uemcli -d ip_address -u username -p password /remote/sys show detail
Bottom of output Synchronous FC ports = spa_fc4, spb_fc4 or
Synchronous FC ports = spa_iom0_fc0, spb_iom0_fc0
In the Unity logs (Service Data or Data collects) this information can be found in the following locations:
\spa\cmd_outputs\repv2\uemcli_remotesys.txt
or
\spb\cmd_outputs\repv2\uemcli_remotesys.txt
You can use the Unisphere System View section to locate the physical ports on the array by click on the ports.
The information about the port you have clicked on will display on the right side of the screen or at the bottom, depending on the Unity OE version. In the example, FC port 4 on SPB is highlighted (first FC port on this particular system):
