NOTE: The Broadcom USH driver is part of the Dell ControlVault Driver. See the Obtaining Broadcom Unified Security Hub (USH) W/Swipe Sensor Drivers section for instructions on downloading the specific Dell ControlVault Driver for your computer.

1. Obtaining Broadcom Unified Security Hub (USH) W/Swipe Sensor Drivers

  1. Browse to the Dell Support website.
  2. You are given three options to identify your computer.

    Either:

    • Select the listing for your computer under THIS personal computer.
      Note: When there is no listing for your computer under THIS personal computer, Select Download & Install SupportAssist, which will automatically identify your computer for you. Follow the prompts to download and install SupportAssist.
    • Enter the Service Tag, Dell EMC Product ID, or Model, and then Select the Search button and select your computer from the list.
    • Select Browse all products: select the type of device you have, the brand name, and then the product model.
      Note: For more information, see Dell Knowledge Base article, How to Determine the Model Number of Your Dell Computer, or the video below.
  3. Select the DRIVERS & DOWNLOADS tab.
  4. Using the drop-down menu under Category, select Security.
  5. When available, the Broadcom USH w/swipe sensor drivers are in the Dell ControlVault Driver, Dell ControlVault2 Driver and Firmware, or Dell ControlVault3 Driver and Firmware files.
  6. Select Download to the right on the driver listing.
    Note: When a firmware is also offered, download both the firmware and driver and install the firmware first.
  7. Once the driver or firmware page opens, see the Installation instructions that are located at the bottom of the page.

2. Resolving Unknown Devices Issues After a Clean Install of Windows

After a clean install of Windows, there may be one or more listings in Device Manager that read as an Unknown device.

To resolve these, install all the drivers available in the Chipset category available for your computer on the Dell Support website. For more information, see Dell Knowledge Base article Drivers and Downloads FAQs

Note: Dell also has an automated detection tool that may be offered for your computer that detects required drivers and utilities updates and also installs them on your Dell computer. For more information, see the Dell Knowledge Base article Drivers by System Analysis or Detect Drivers.
