Resolve Alienware FX Lighting Issues

Symptoms

Alienware FX is an application that is integrated into the Alienware Command Center that allows you to control the lighting on the chassis, keyboard, and mouse of Alienware products.

Follow the steps outlined in this article when you are having issues controlling the lighting on your Alienware device.

Cause

Updating the Alienware Command Center to the latest version resolves many issues. The latest version is available from the Dell Drivers & Downloads site.

Resolution

The Alienware Command Center may stop behaving as expected after a recent software or hardware change, for example a Windows or Driver update. If this happens, it is recommended to:
  1. Ensure that the computer has been shut down and then turned on since any recent software or hardware change.
  2. Update the computer BIOS to the latest version from the Dell Drivers & Downloads site.

Dimmed or No Lights

  1. Open the Alienware Command Center application.
  2. Select the FX tab.
  3. Ensure that GO DIM and GO DARK are not turned on.
  4. Uninstall and reinstall the Alienware Command Center Software as per the instructions on our article How to Remove and Reinstall the Alienware Command Center.
