Symptoms

You see an error "0xA00F4244 NoCamerasAreAttached" when you access the webcam.

Cause

Many times this issue is caused from the camera driver being outdated or corrupted.

Perform the steps below to help correct any camera driver being outdated or corrupted. These steps also answer questions such as:

Step 1 - Ensure that sure the camera is enabled in the BIOS of your Dell laptop

  1. Restart or power on the computer.
  2. When you see the Dell logo during POST, press the F2 key once a second to enter the System Setup.
    NOTE: When the computer boots into Windows, restart the computer and try again.
  3. Click Integrated Devices.
  4. Ensure that there is a checkmark next to Enable Camera.
  5. Click Apply Changes and confirm the changes if asked.
  6. Click Exit and the computer restart.
  7. Check to see if you get the same error if so continue to the next step.

Step 2 - Check the camera privacy settings

  1. Press and hold the Windows (Windows Key) key, and then press the q key.
  2. In the Search box, type camera privacy settings.
  3. Click or touch Camera privacy settings (System settings) in the list of programs.
  4. Ensure sure the setting to the right of Camera Access is On.
  5. Close the Setting window.
  6. Check to see if you get the same error if so continue to the next step.

Step 3 - Reset the camera application

  1. Press and hold the Windows (Windows Key) key, and then press the q key.
  2. In the Search box, type camera.
  3. Right-click Camera (app), and then select app settings.
  4. Click or touch Repair, in the Reset section.
  5. When that does not correct the issue, click or touch Reset, in the Reset section, and then confirm you want to reset the camera app by clicking or touching Reset.
  6. After the process finishes, close the Settings window.
  7. Check to see if you get the same error if so continue to the next step.

Step 4 - Run the video playback troubleshooter

  1. Press and hold the Windows (Windows Key) key, and then press the q key.
  2. In the Search box, type troubleshooter.
  3. Click or touch Troubleshoot (system settings) in the list of programs.
  4. Under Other troubleshooters, click or touch Run, to the right of Video Playback, and then follow the prompts.
  5. After the troubleshooter finishes, close the Settings window.
  6. Check to see if you get the same error if so continue to the next step.

Step 5 - Reinstall the webcam drivers

  1. Close any applications that are using the webcam (this may include web pages). Save and close any applications that you are working on as the computer must restart.
  2. Press and hold the Windows (Windows Key) key, and then press the q key.
  3. In the search box, type device manager.
  4. Select Device Manager (Control panel) in the list of results.
  5. Touch or click the plus (+) sign to the left of Cameras or Imaging Devices.
    NOTE: When there is not a listing for Cameras or Imaging Devices contact Dell Technical Support.
  6. Touch and hold or right-click Integrated Webcam or USB camera.
  7. Touch or click Uninstall.
  8. Confirm the uninstall process by clicking OK.
  9. Once uninstalled, restart the computer.
    NOTE: Windows 11 and Windows 10 automatically detects and installs the Webcam drivers.
  10. Check to see if you get the same error, when you still get the error, the webcam software should also be uninstalled and reinstalled. Contact the Webcam software provider for assistance.

Step 6 - Run the Dell personal computer hardware diagnostics on your internal webcam

  1. Browse to the Webcam Diagnostics page.
  2. The test runs, and the results are shown.

Step 7 - Optimize your device using SupportAssist

Run the automated tools provided in the SupportAssist tool foe your internal Webcam (this determines whether any newer drivers are available, and check for performance issues).

  1. Press and hold the Windows (Windows Key) key, and then press the q key.
  2. In the search box, type supportassist.
  3. Select SupportAssist (App) in the list of results.
    NOTE: When SupportAssist does not show up in the search results, browse to the SupportAssist for PCs and tablets page for information about downloading and installing SupportAssist.
  4. Touch or click Full system scan to run all the tests.
    NOTE: You can touch or click to clear test you do not want to run, but we recommend running all the tests.
  5. Touch or click Start.
  6. SupportAssist runs the tests one by one and provides the results.

Step 8 - Run Windows updates
