SLN310356_en_US__1icon Note: Be aware that using a large Phillips or Flat Head screwdriver may result in damage to the head of the screws. This would make their removal impossible without specialty tools, that are not available to our onsite engineers.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Main Access Panel:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Loosen the eight (8) captive screws that secure the cover to the chassis [1].

  1. Using a plastic scribe or similar tool, pry the base cover up from the top edge of the system. Continue around the cover to release it from the chassis. [2]

  2. Lift the cover up and off the chassis.

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the System Cover.

  2. Disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard and remove the cable from the routing channel. [1]

  3. Loosen the captive screw on the side of the battery closest to the right-hand side of the chassis. [2]

  1. Lift the Battery up and out of the system [3].

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Keyboard Trim:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the System Cover, and Battery

  2. Using a plastic scribe or similar tool, pry up the trim starting at the access points [1]. Continue around the trim going in a clockwise direction. Lift up from the right-hand side [2] to remove from the system.

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Keyboard:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the System Cover, Battery, and Keyboard Trim.

  2. Lift the latch and remove the keyboard cable from the connector [1].

  3. Lift the latch and remove the other keyboard cables from the connectors [2,3,4].

  1. Turn the system back onto its base and open the system up. Remove the five (5) screws that secure the keyboard to the chassis [1].

  2. Using a plastic scribe, pry the keyboard up from the bottom and lift it up out of the system [2].

  1. Be careful removing the keyboard from the system as you will need to pull the keyboard cables through from the rear of the system.

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Memory:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the System Cover, and Battery.

  2. Pull the metal clips on the short sides of the memory dimm apart, until the module pops up at an angle to the connector [1].

  3. Lift the memory dimm out of the system [2].

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Solid State Drive (SSD):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the System Cover, and Battery.

  2. Peel off the adhesive mylar shield from on top of the SSD [1].

  1. Remove the screw that secures the end of the SSD to the motherboard [2]. Lift the card to a 35-degree angle and remove from the connector [3].

  1. Once the card is removed, you can remove the SSD frame by removing the securing screw that holds it to the system [1].

  1. Lift the frame out of the system [2].

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Hard Disk Drive (HDD):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the System Cover, and Battery.

  2. Disconnect the HDD cable from the connector on the motherboard [1], and remove the four (4) screws that secure the HDD to the chassis [2].

  1. Lift the drive out of the system.

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Coin Cell Battery:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the System Cover, and Battery.

  2. Disconnect the coin cell battery cable from the connector on the motherboard [1]. Lift the coin cell battery up and away from the adhesive holding it to the motherboard [2].

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the WLAN Card (WiFi, Wireless):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the System Cover, and Battery.

  2. Remove the screw that secures the card to the system [1]. Remove the bracket that secures the antenna cables [2] and disconnect the antenna cables from the WLAN card [3].

SLN310356_en_US__1icon Note: Remove the wireless card from the system. Make sure the adhesive pad under the card stays on the system board and/or chassis frame during the removal process.
  1. Lift the card out of the connector and the system [4].

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the WWAN CARD (3G, Cellular):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the System Cover, and Battery.

  2. Remove the screw that secures the card to the system [1]. Remove the bracket that secures the antenna cables [2] and disconnect the antenna cables from the WWAN card [3].

  1. Lift the card out of the connector and the system [4].

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the SD Memory Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. You have to push in on the SD card in order for it to pop out of the system [1]. Once it pops out - you can grip it and pull it all the way out of the system [2].

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the SIM Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Insert a straightened paper clip or the SIM card removal tool into the pinhole on the SIM card tray [1].

  3. Pull on the SIM card tray when it pops out of the side of the system [2].

  1. Remove the SIM card from the tray and push the empty tray into the slot until it clicks in place.
