Instructions

You can reset the vCenter SSO password as follows:
1. According to your infrastructure:
    - If you are having an embedded Platform Services Controller (PSC): SSH to vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA)
    - If you are having an external PSC: SSH to PSC
2. Switch to the shell, and run the following command
# /usr/lib/vmware-vmdir/bin/vdcadmintool
3. Choose option "3. Reset account password"
4. Enter your UPN when prompted (example: administrator@vsphere.local)
5. Take note of the password that is generated by the tool
6. Use the password obtained in Step 5 to login to vSphere Web Client, and then proceed to change your password once logged in

In case a Windows based vCenter is used:
Using an elevated command prompt, follow steps 3-6 after running

c:\> "%VMWARE_CIS_HOME%\vmdird\vdcadmintool.exe"
