Removal Instructions

 

 

Req_Tools

1 Small Phillip's head screwdriver 2 Plastic Scribe
3 Small Flat head screwdriver    
 
Note: Be aware that using a large Phillips or Flat Head screwdriver may result in damage to the head of the screws. This would make their removal impossible without specialty tools, that are not available to our onsite engineers.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Base Cover:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. With the closed laptop sitting upside down and flat to the desk, remove the eight (8) retained screws that secure the base cover to the chassis.

  1. Using a non-metallic tool, start at the left-hand side hinge and work clockwise around the edge of the cover to release the cover.

  2. The M.2 2280 SSD is located in the top right-hand side corner of the system. Remove the screw that secures the solid-state drive thermal plate to the motherboard. Lift the solid-state drive thermal plate away from the system. Lift the securing rod and carefully release it from the hook to remove it. Slide and remove the solid-state drive from the solid-state drive slot on the motherboard.

  1. The M.2 2230 SSD is located in the top right-hand side corner of the system. Remove the screw that secures the solid-state drive thermal plate to the motherboard. Lift the solid-state drive thermal plate away from the system. Lift the securing rod and carefully release it from the hook to remove it. Slide and remove the solid-state drive from the solid-state drive slot on the motherboard.

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Wireless Card (WiFi):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover.

  2. The WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) card is located in the top left-hand side corner of the system above the memory. Remove the screw that secures the end of the WLAN card to the motherboard and remove the securing clip.

  1. Disconnect the antenna cables from the end of the card. (These connectors are press studs and pop off the connector with a little pressure.) The card should be sitting up at an angle from the connector.

  1. Pull the card out of the connector and the system.

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover.

  2. The WWAN (Wireless Wide Area Network) card is located in the top left-hand side corner of the system beside the memory. Remove the screw that secures the end of the WWAN card to the motherboard and remove the securing clip.

  1. Push the microSD card into the connector and let it go. The card will pop out of the side of the computer. Pull the card the rest of the way out of the computer.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. When you look at the system from the rear, the SIM Card slot is on the rear of the system beside the right-hand hinge. Insert a SIM removal tool or pin into the hole in the SIM card tray. The tray will pop out enough for you to grip the tray and pull it out of the computer.
