Is the touchpad cursor sluggish on your Inspiron 5570 or 5770?

 

You may experience an issue while using the touchpad on your Inspiron 5570 or 5770 laptops.

When you move your finger across the touchpad quickly, while the AC adapter is connected -  the cursor may become sluggish or even freeze.

However, the touchpad works fine when moving your finger slowly or you have disconnected the AC adapter.

Solution Steps

 

To help resolve this issue, download and install the latest Alps click pad Firmware.

If the Alps Click Pad Firmware update is not listed when you use your Service Tag, follow these steps to find it:

  1. Go to the Dell Support website

  2. Enter your systems Service Tag or Express Service Code reference

  3. Click the Drivers & Downloads drawer in the menu

  4. Ensure you have the correct operating system set

  5. Select the Mouse, Keyboard & Input Devices drop-down category

  6. Look for the Alps Click Pad Firmware Update Utility

    1. If you do not see the update, make sure that the following checkbox is cleared. This gives you access to the entire drivers and downloads list for your platform:

  1. Click the Download button and follow the on-screen instructions to install the update. (Ensure you are plugged to a reliable power source whenever updating firmware or drivers.)
