Compatible Products

The following computers are compatible with the PN5122W Dell Active Pen.

Note: The Dell PN5122W Active Pen can only be used with 2-in-1 laptop versions except for the Precision 5470, 5480, and 5490 Mobile Workstations (a specific LCD version is needed) and Latitude 7320 Detachable.
Some models have two versions, a normal laptop version (Example: Latitude 5320), and a 2-in-1 version (Example: Latitude 5320 2-in-1).

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Causes Possible Solutions
Pen cannot write or draw. The laptop is not supported for the pen type. See the list of Compatible Systems.
The battery is fully drained. Replace the AAAA battery.
The pen cannot connect with Dell Peripheral Manager (DPeM). The DPeM pairing was not successful. Launch DPeM, click the '+' mark on the upper right corner, click Pen mark.

Tap the screen with the pen tip of your pen to connect the pen with DPeM.
Default functions for the barrel buttons do not work. The default function is changed or overwritten. Launch DPeM to check the function assignment of the barrel buttons.
Pen skin peels off. Alcohol-based liquid may damage the pen skin. Avoid using alcohol-based cleaner or sanitizer on the pen directly.
Unsuitable stock and operating temperature and humidity may damage the pen body. See the documentation to find more information for stocking and operating the pen.

  • What are the Supported Operating Systems?
    Windows 11 and Windows 10 support the pen.
     
  • What is the recommended battery type?
    Alkaline batteries are recommended for these pens. The pen uses one AAAA battery.
     
  • What information is required when contacting Dell Tech Support?
    Before contacting Dell Tech Support, get the following information ready:
    1. The Order Number
    2. The laptops Service Tag.
    3. The PPID is found on the box or sleeve under the pen battery cap (PPID starts with CN).
