Note: Be aware that using a large Phillips or Flat Head screwdriver may result in damage to the head of the screws. This would make their removal impossible without specialty tools that are not available to our onsite engineers.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Base Cover:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. To remove the base cover, turn the computer onto it is back cover. Loosen the Eight (8) captive screws that secure the cover to the computer. [1]

  1. Using a Plastic scribe or similar tool, pry the cover up from the rear edge of the computer. [2]

  2. Lift the base cover up and away from the computer.

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover.

  2. To remove the battery, disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the Motherboard. [1]

Battery

  1. Remove the captive screw that secures the battery to the computer. [2]

  2. Lift the battery up and away from the computer. [3]

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Keyboard Trim:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover, and Battery.

  2. Using a plastic scribe or similar tool, pry the keyboard trim up along the top edge of the keyboard [1]. Lift it up and away from the computer. [2]

Keyboard Trim

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Keyboard:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover, Battery, and Keyboard Trim.

  2. Lift the keyboard cable latch and remove the keyboard cable from the connector.

Keyboard 1

  1. Remove the five (5) screws that secure the keyboard to the computer. [1]

Keyboard 2

  1. Using a plastic scribe or similar tool, pry the keyboard up from the touchpad edge.

  2. Slide the keyboard towards the front of the computer and lift up and away from the computer. [3]

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the memory module:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Remove the Base Cover, and Battery.

  2. To remove the memory module, pull the securing tabs away from the middle of the module, until the module appears at a 45-degree angle. [1]

Memory 1

  1. Lift the module up and away from the motherboard. [2]

Note: Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for however many additional memory modules located in the computer.

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the solid state drive (SSD):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover, and Battery.

  2. To remove the SSD, remove the SSD bracket from the SSD card.

  3. Peel off the adhesive tape that secures the SSD card. [1]

SSD

  1. Remove the screw that secures the SSD to the computer. [2]

  2. Slide the card towards the front of the computer and lift out of the computer once clear of the card connector. [3]

Note: This is an optional part and must be selected at the point of purchase.

 

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Hard Disk Drive (Hard Drive):

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover, and Battery.

  2. To remove the Hard Drive assembly, disconnect the hard drive cable from the hard drive connector on the motherboard.

  3. Remove the screws that secure the Hard Drive assembly to the company.

  4. Lift the drive up and away from the computer.

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the WiFi, Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover, and Battery.

  2. To remove the WLAN card, remove the retaining screw from the edge of the card. [1]

WLAN

  1. Remove the metal tab covering the WLAN antenna cables. [2]

  2. Disconnect the antenna cables from the WLAN card connectors. These are pop stud connectors and lift off with your thumbnail or plastic scribe. [3]

  3. Lift the card up at a 45-degree angle and pull out and away from the connector on the computer. [4]

  1. Pre-Removal instructions before removing the Cellular, 3G, Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) Card:

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    4. Remove the Base Cover, and Battery.

  2. To remove the WWAN card, follow the same steps as with the WLAN card.

    1. During installation or removal of any hardware always ensures that all data is backed up properly.

    2. Disconnect any telephone, network, or USB cables from the computer.

    3. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

  2. Locate the SIM card slot on the rear of your computer.

  3. Insert a straightened paperclip or a SIM card removal tool in the pinhole. [1]

SIM

  1. Pull the SIM card tray out and remove the card from the tray. [2]
