This KB covers how to enable Java debugging when Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is used. Enabling Java console and debugging may be required when facing issues with the NetWorker Management Console (NMC). These steps are to be carried out on the NMC client (the host where the user interface is launched from).

Clear the Java cache
From the system Control Panel, open the Java Control Panel.
Enable Java Console
From the system Control Panel, open the Java Control Panel.
Launch the NMC. The Java Console opens. Press "5" in the Java Console box to set the trace level to 5.
Log in to the NMC as administrator.
Bring up the Java debug menu by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+right mouse button. Set Debug Level to 7.
Reproduce the problem.
Disable Java debugging by bring up the menu (CTRL+SHIFT+right mouse button) and selecting Debug Off.
Copy the contents of the Java Console window.
Method 2 - NMC user interface is already open.
Enable Java debugging directly from an open NMC user interface window.
Bring up the Java debug window by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+right mouse button. Set Debug Level to 7.
Reproduce the problem.
Disable Java debugging by bring up the menu and selecting Debug Off.
Bring up the Java menu ( CTRL+SHIFT+right mouse button) and select Save Debug Messages.
Save the logs to a directory and name of your choice.
