What is the Dell AR Assistant?

The Dell AR Assistant app creates an augmented reality experience with step-by-step instructions to replace common parts on select Dell computers.

  • All that is needed is an Android or iOS smartphone.
  • The app does not require a login and does not store any personal information.
  • Once the part is replaced, customers can run Dell diagnostics to confirm their issue is resolved.

Troubleshooting Dell AR Assistant

If Dell AR Assistant does not recognize your supported Dell product, be sure you are close enough for the app to lock on to the device.

Other ways to help with lock-on:

  • Hold the smartphone at a 45-degree angle to the computer, not directly over it and try to fit the computer in the white outline.
  • Press the AR Assistant button on the left side of the screen to reset it.
  • Try different angles around the computer (lower, higher, slightly left or right).
  • Change the lighting around the computer. Natural light is recommended.
  • Change the background by moving the computer to another work location.
  • Try holding the phone for 2-3 seconds in position, you may detect a delay with the camera connecting to the app.

If a closer view is needed, move the camera closer to the device. If you lose the AR lock, back up to reacquire the lock and slowly move closer.
