Before you begin returning service parts to Dell, ensure the following:

  • Back up your data.
  • Remove any confidential, proprietary, or personal information and removable media such as CDs, DVDs, memory cards, smart cards, USB adapters, and USB dongles.

Determine which parts must be returned

Unless notified otherwise, you are responsible for returning the defective part to Dell within 10 days of receipt of the replacement part. Failure to return the defective part within 10 days may result in the suspension of your warranty service. Alternatively, you can be charged for the then-current standard price for that part.

Each shipped replacement part includes a packing slip that provides information about how to return the defective part. If Dell does not need the defective part, it is mentioned in the packing slip.

How to return the parts to Dell?

  1. Place one or more parts in the box that you received. Carefully pack each part to prevent damage during shipping and seal the box.
  2. Paste the return label on the outside of the box over the original shipping label.
  3. Shipping
    1. If you received a FedEx Ground waybill:
      1. Fill out the Sender information in the FROM section.
      2. Write the order reference number (sometimes called work order (DPSearch) number and found on your packing slip) in the Return Authorization (RA) field on the waybill.
      3. Either call 1-800-463-3339 to arrange a pickup or drop the package at an authorized FedEx shipping location near you. Check your local FedEx location This hyperlink is taking you to a website outside of Dell Technologies..
    2. If you received a FedEx Smart Post label:
      1. Place the package in a residential mailbox, drop it in a USPS mailbox, or take the package to the Post Office.

      3. Drop the package at a FedEx Service Station or an authorized FedEx shipping site.
  4. Ensure that you keep a record of your return waybill number.

If you have lost your return shipping label or would like to pay for your part, for verification go to https://dellgsp.com/verifyEmail. If an active work order is associated with the information entered, instructions are sent directly to that email.
