VNX: VNX2: How to enable Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge Windows 11

Summary: New versions of Microsoft edge will not allow java. As a work around, you can enable Internet explorer mode to allow unisphere or the vnx client to run within Microsoft Edge.

Symptoms

Customer prefers or requires Microsoft Edge.
There is a need to run Unisphere within Microsoft Edge.

Cause

Java is no longer supported with Microsoft Edge.

Resolution

1. Open Edge, Go to Settings by clicking three-dot menu on the right side of the top menu bar. Settings in Microsoft Edge browser

2. Navigate to Default Browser to Use IE Mode. Default browser settings in Microsoft Edge web browser

3. For option Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode you can set to either Default or Allow mode. Internet Explorer settings in Microsoft Edge web browser
4. Select How and When Sites Will Load in IE Mode.
 - If you choose the Default setting presents an option to open Edge in IE mode if you have opened a page in that mode before. (This does not mean that IE mode is the default; this is the default setting in Edge.)
  - If you choose Allow, you must restart your browser. You will be able to choose Reload in Internet Explorer mode from the settings and more menu, or by right-clicking the tab and then choosing Open link in new Internet Explorer mode tab. 5. Open Any Pages Requiring IE. When you do, you see a notification about the mode with a switch for making the site always use IE mode. You also see a button to switch to it once you are done browsing the site that requires IE. The IE mode button in Microsoft Edge

How to troubleshoot JAVA issue? Check below instructions:

1] Clear Java cache on a PC
 
1.      Launch Control Panel > Double-click Java. OR Start > Run > Javaws -viewer
2.      Click General Tab and click Settings under Temporary Internet Files.
3.      Click Delete Files button, and then click OK.
4.      Click OK again.


Alternatively, you can run the following command from the Run command (Click Start and then Run)

NOTE: This will only clear java cache and will not uninstall java.

javaws -uninstall

Open Java from control panel OR Run > Javaws -viewer
 2] From Advanced tab > Select Do not check (not recommended)

3] From Security tab >Decrease the security level and Edit site list and add the IP address of VNX SPA / SPB / CS, and that should be added like:

4] Disable proxy settings and use direct connections.

5] Increase Java memory and or runtime parameters
 

 

  • Unisphere may be unresponsive when using Analyzer on a system with a large configuration (hundreds of LUNs).
  • Navigation and handling may appear slower
 
1.      Start > Run > Javaws -viewer
2.      From Java tab and click View….
3.      Enter –Xmx1024m under Runtime Parameter, which allocates 1024 MB memory for Java.  This number can be increased or decreased [512, 256] as you see fit.
