Symptoms

Miracast/WiDi Problem After Connecting to Domain

You may experience an issue where the option to Add a Wireless Display is missing after connecting to a network domain.

Modify Wireless Network Policy Permissions to Resolve

If you auto provision wireless through Group Policy, within the Group Policy Object (GPO) for Wireless Network Policies, determine if the policy is created for Windows XP or for Windows Vista and Later Releases. If the policy is not created for Windows Vista and later releases, recreate it. Next, look for the Network Permissions tab within the policy and find the policy setting Don't allow WiFi Direct groups and uncheck this setting. After the changes have been made, run gpupdate to refresh the Group Policy settings. The option to Add a Wireless Display should now be available within the Domain.

Note: If the option Don't allow WiFi Direct groups is selected, this prevents the machine from connecting to WiFi Direct devices such as Miracast/WiDi.  More information regarding this problem can be found in the Microsoft TechNet Forum.
