Symptoms

Disable the Integrated Webcam

Owners of Chromebook 11 laptops may contact support looking for a way to disable the integrated webcam.

Cause

No cause information.

Resolution

Webcam Cannot Be Disabled

There is no hardware failure with the Chromebook, it is working in the manner it was designed to function.

Some applications may allow the User to disable the webcam (for that application), but Chrome does not currently offer an Operating System level enable/disable toggle for the camera.

Note: The Chrome Operating System is a product of Google, and Dell cannot add functionality to the Operating System such as the ability to disable the webcam.
