How to install device drivers with the Dell Download Manager

Symptoms

Follow these steps to download and install drivers, firmware and updates on your computer using the Download Manager.

Find your device drivers

  1. Browse to the Dell Product Selection Page.
 
  • Enter your Service Tag or Express Service Code and click Submit, or select your device from the list under General support.

  • On the Drivers & Downloads page, you can find drivers three ways:
    • Click Analyze System for Updates and follow the prompts.
    • Refine your results by using the drop-down list boxes.
    • Click the Arrows to expand the driver categories.
    1. Click Download File.
    2. Select Use Download Manager and click Continue.
      Note: Single-file download will download the file through your web browser and not the Download Manager.
    3. Click Agree to agree to the terms of the Dell Download Manager End-User License Agreement.
    4. Save your file to a location that is easy to remember.Your file will begin downloading.

      You can pause, cancel or resume your download at any time.
      Note: If this is your first time installing a driver from the Drivers & Downloads page, you will need to install the Download Manager first.
    1. When the download is completed, click Install.
    2. On the Open File dialog box, click Open.
    3. If your anti-virus or security software prompts you to allow the program to make changes to your computer, click Yes.
    4. Confirm the driver name and click Continue when the application dialog appears.
    5. Select the folder where you want to unzip the files and click OK.
      Note: You may want to choose a folder that is in a location that is easy to access, such as the desktop. If you choose the default folder, make sure you copy or write down the address.
    6. If a message appears asking to create a folder, click Yes. If a message appears asking to overwrite the folder, click Yes to All.
    7. A confirmation dialog will appear when the files are successfully unzipped. Click OK to close the dialog.
    8. In the address bar of Windows Explorer, paste or type the address of the folder you unzipped the files to and press Enter.
    9. Double-click the Setup application to install the driver.
    10. If your anti-virus or security software prompts you to allow the program to make changes to your computer, click Yes.
    11. Follow the prompts in the Device Driver Installation wizard.
    12. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
