To configure a username and password for Web GUI or Telnet access, run the following commands.
This is an example with the username as Dell, and password as PowerConnect. These are just examples and you should use more complicated, hard to guess credentials to secure your switch.
Note: For the PowerConnect 5500 series switch, and N series switches, the command uses privilege instead of level. There is no difference in functionality. The code programmers changed the command structure using privilege and or level.
Note: You may make multiple users on the switch, as well as different levels/privilege level of access. Privilege level could be 0,1 or 15 meaning 0 is no access, 1 in read only, and 15 is read and write.
