This applies to all DLm Systems. The Disk Library for Mainframe (DLm) serial number is:
- Used as the main identifier for Support and Service Request creation
- Used as the main point of access for gaining SRS access to provide remote support, including back-end storage
- Physically printed on a label attached to the rear of the unit
- Retrieved via standard system interfaces - DLm CLI (SSH) or DLm Console (Web-GUI)
How to retrieve the DLm Serial Number:
From DLm CLI:
- Establish a connection to the DLm unit - serial, KVM or SSH
- Log in to the DLm Management unit using suitable credentials
- Enter the command:
cat /var/log/psnt.txt
From DLmConsole (Web-GUI):
- Point a web browser to the IP address or hostname of the DLm Management VTE
- Log in to the DLm using suitable credentials
- Click on the "Status" tab, then the subtab "versions"
- The DLm serial number is shown
Physical Inspection:
The Serial Number is located on the rear of the DLm chassis. Exercise caution when moving cables to view the serial number; cables should not be removed while the system is running.
