This article provides the steps for installing Dell Encryption Enterprise Self-Encrypting Drive Manager (formerly Dell Data Protection | Self-Encrypting Drive Manager) or Dell Encryption Personal Self-Encrypting Drive Manager.

Dell Encryption Enterprise / Personal Self-Encrypting Drive Manager can be installed through the:

  • User interface (UI)
  • Command-line interface (CLI)

Click the preferred method for more information.

UI

Click the appropriate client version for specific installation steps. For more information, reference How to Identify the Dell Encryption Enterprise and Personal Self-Encrypting Drive Manager Version.

  1. Double-click EMAgent_64bit_setup.exe.

  1. Select the language and then click OK.

  1. If any missing requirements are detected, click Install. Otherwise, go to Step 4.

  1. Click Next to proceed.

  1. Accept the terms of the license agreement and then click Next.

  1. Optionally, Change the installation location and then click Next.

  1. Select one of the following:
    1. Encryption Personal, click Next, and then go to Step 9.
    2. On-Prem Dell Managed Server, click Next, and then go to Step 8.

    1. Populate the Enterprise Server Host name.
    2. Optionally, change Enterprise Server Port number.
    3. Populate the Security Server Host name.
    4. Optionally, change Security Server Port number.

  • The example, server.domain.com, will differ from the server fully qualified domain name (FQDN) in your environment.
  • By default:
    • 8888 is used for policy changes.
    • 8443 is used for preboot authentication connections.
  • The default ports may differ from the port in your environment.
  1. Click Install.

  1. Upon installation, click Finish to close the UI.

Dell Encryption Enterprise or Personal Self-Encrypting Drive Manager can be installed in the CLI (command-line interface) through the usage of switches and parameters.

/V Yes Passes variables to the .msi inside the executable. The content must always be enclosed in plain-text quotes.
/S No Installs the .msi in Silent Mode.
/L*V No Logging verbose output. The content must always be enclosed in plain-text quotes.
/Q No No progress dialog. Restarts itself after process completion.
/QB No Progress dialog with Cancel button. Prompts for restart.
/QB- No Progress dialog with Cancel button. Restarts itself after process completion.
/QB! No Progress dialog without Cancel button. Prompts for restart.
/QB!- No Progress dialog without Cancel button. Restarts itself after process completion.
/QN No Runs the .msi with no user interface.
