SC Series: SRM Migrating from Storage Policy to Datastore Protection Group for Stretched Storage

Instructions

See the steps below for migration:
 
  1. Identify the protection group that must be migrated. The type should be storage policies. Note down the Virtual Machines count in protection group details. This information is required later.

  1. On the Virtual Machines tab, identify the VMs and the replicated devices that are protected.

  1. Note down the datastores of the replicated devices in Discover devices of Array Pair. This information is required later.

  1. Upgrade SRM to 8.5 as mentioned in VMware document: Update the Site Recovery Manager Virtual Appliance (vmware.com). Third party link icon

  1. Delete the protection group identified in step 1.

  1. Create a new protection group with Type Datastore groups and click Next.

  1. Select the datastores that are identified in step 3 and click Next.

  1. Add the new protection group to existing recovery plan and click Next.
