Unisphere for PowerMax Virtual Appliance: How to configure Syslog

Instructions

From the Unisphere for PowerMax vApp Manager:

  1. Edit the Daemon Options file from the vApp manager:
    • Click CONFIGURE > SOLUTIONS ENABLER
    • Click Edit Daemon Options File:

  1. Add the following lines:
storevntd:LOG_EVENT_TARGETS = syslog
storevntd:LOG_EVENT_SYSLOG_HOST = <Syslog Host IP>
storevntd:LOG_EVENT_SYSLOG_PORT = 514
storevntd:LOG_SYMMETRIX_EVENTS = sid=0002968XXXXX, events
  1. There are two options to make changes. Either you can add this line at the end of the Daemon Options File:

Or find these lines in the Daemon Options File and edit the value and uncomment the line.

    • Click Save
    • Click Close 
       
  1. Refresh the storevent daemon. Stop and start storevntd:
    • Click RUN COMMANDS
    • Select stordaemon from the drop-down list for SYMCLI command
    •  In Command arguments type:

shutdown storevntd -immediate

  1. Check the Daemon status:
    • Click MANAGE 
    • Click DAEMONS
start storevntd

  1. Ensure that the daemon is running:

  1. Configure Syslog
    • Click Settings
    • Click Alerts
    • Click Notifications
    • Enable Syslog 
    • Click Apply

  2. Select Alert Policies 
    • Click Settings
    • Click Alerts
    • Click Alert Policies
    • Select Array from the drop-down list
    • Enable required Alerts
    • Select the Syslog checkbox under Notifications
    • Click Apply

If the Syslog is not received immediately on the Syslog host, recommend waiting 24 hours.
