Symptoms

Alert:

During a SCOS upgrade of a SCv20x0 SAS Front End model, there is a potential for any Windows host server directly connected via SAS will lose all paths to volumes and result in an outage.    

 Affected Versions:

The following conditions must be met to experience this issue:
  1. An SCv20x0 system that utilizes SAS for the Front End protocol.
  2. Upgrading the Storage Center system from SCOS version 6.6.x to SCOS version 6.7.x or above.
  3. Windows host server that is directly connected via SAS.

NoteHost servers running an operating system other than Windows (such as ESX or Linux) are not affected by this issue.

Workaround:

Any system meeting the conditions that could be affected by this issue needs to take precaution and schedule a maintenance window for the upgrade so that the Windows hosts can be taken offline before the upgrade commences.  

Resolution:

This issue is resolved in SCOS version 6.7.x and above for upgrades going forward.  If this issue is experienced, a rescan for disks or restarting the impacted Windows hosts will recover volume access.
