Windows hosts may lose access to volume(s) that utilized the Live Migrate feature to move from a Storage Center to another Storage Center, both on Storage Center OS (SCOS) 7.3 or newer. Volume access will not be affected during and immediately following completion of Live Migrate, but Windows host may lose access to these volume(s) following a server reboot or other maintenance related tasks. This has only been seen on Windows hosts to date, and other Operating Systems should not be impacted. Additionally, this does not impact systems utilizing Live Volume or if one of the systems was on SCOS 7.2 or older when Live Migrate was used.
Until this issue is resolved, it is the recommendation of Dell EMC that the Live Migrate feature is not utilized if other options for data migration are possible. If no other options are available, the following workarounds can be applied.
Option 1: Does not require support intervention but does require a planned outage of impacted volume(s)
Option 2: Support resolution via Secure Console or serial access to the system
Support has a process to resolve this issue before host reboots or maintenance where this issue would occur, or after if it has already occurred. Support will need access to the system the volume(s) were migrated to via Secure Console or serial. Once resolved volume access is restored via a disk rescan on the host or a reboot of the host.
