Format Description:
This file format consists of an archive of files that may be decompressed to a directory on the hard drive. The installation can then be done from that directory.
This software code release requires all V2.8 components; firmware, device driver and management utilities. Using some components from previous releases may cause some unknown errors.
Installing or Upgrading the NetWare Device Drivers
Fresh Installation of the Netware Driver
1. Boot to the Novell Netware OS CD
2. Follow the instructions on the screen until you reach the Storage Driver Support screen. This screen is used to add, change or delete drivers.
3. Select Storage Adapters on the Storage Driver Support screen.
4. Delete any existing PERC adapters.
5. Press "Insert" to add unlisted drivers. Press "Insert" again. A path displays.
6. Insert the driver diskette into the floppy drive and press "Enter".
7. The system finds the PERC2.HAM driver.
8. Return to the Driver Summary screen. Continue the installation.
Upgrading NetWare 5.x Device Drivers
To upgrade the perc2.ham driver for the controller on a NetWare 5.x system, follow these steps. Before you begin, make a backup copy of the old driver before installing the new driver. Note, however, that during the upgrade, you are prompted to save the current driver files.
1. At the NetWare console prompt, type the following command:
YOUR_SERVER_PROMPT> load nwconfig
2. Select "Driver Options" and press "Enter".
3. Select "Configure disk and storage device drivers" and press "Enter".
4. From the "Additional Driver Action" menu, select "Select an additional driver" and press "Enter".
5. Check that the proper driver for any on-board SCSI controller is installed.
If the on-board driver has not been installed, install it before installing the NetWare driver for the controller. Refer to your DELL server documentation for further information.
6. Insert the diskette that contains the driver for NetWare V5.0 or NetWare V5.1 into the floppy drive and press the "Insert" key.
7. An explanatory screen appears. Press "Enter" to have the system scan the diskette for the driver.
8. Select "perc2.ham DELL PERC 2, 2/Si, 3/Si, 3/Di RAID Controller" and press "Enter". This will bring you to the driver Parameters screen.
9. Answer "Yes" to the prompt "Do you want to copy driver perc2.ham?"
10. Specify the path where you want the perc2.ham installed or press "Enter" to accept the default.
11. You will be prompted to save the existing driver and its attendant files. Answer "Yes" to these prompts.
12. Press to exit NWConfig and return to the System Console.
14. At the console prompt, type "unload perc2.ham" and press "Enter", then type "load perc2.ham" and press "Enter". Load the driver for all applicable adapters.
15. If necessary, install the Novell NetWare Support Pack 6 or higher for NetWare 5.0 or Novell NetWare Support Pack 2 for NetWare 5.1.
CAUTION: Novell recommends installing the Support Pack on your server from a client. If installing the Support Pack from a CD, mount the CD as a NetWare volume and then install the software.
