Format Description:
This file format consists of an archive of files that may be decompressed to a directory on the hard drive. The installation can then be done from that directory.
Steps to update the switch from v2.2.1c/v2.2.1a to v2.5.0d 1. Execute the self-extracting zip file v2_5_0d.exe to extract the following files into a folder of your choice:
rshd.exe cat.exe v2.5.0d Readme.doc
2. Verify that the v2.5.0d firmware file has been extracted to the same directory as rshd.exe and cat.exe 3. Start rshd.exe from the command line. 4. Telnet and logon to the switch as Admin. 5. Execute the firmwareDownload command from the Telnet CLI of the switch. The firmwareDownload command has be following command line format.
firmwareDownload "host IP address", "user name", "filename"
The “user name” can be set to “user”. The command will prompt you for additional information no arguments are specified.
6. After the firmware download has been completed, reboot the switch (using the reboot command) for the new firmware to be activated.
If you have a SAN with redundant paths I/O will failover to the alternate path when the switch is rebooted. As an additional precaution you may want to move all I/O to the alternate path prior to the reboot.
7. Once the switch has rebooted, login to the switch and verify the firmware version by using the version command.
