Due to an uncaught error in the ServerHardwareManagerMonitor service in ServerHardwareManager versions after 1.7 the service will not properly stop when sc stop is used. This causes a required reboot to finish installing.
To avoid a required reboot of the system a running ServerHardwareManagerMonitor service must be manually stopped with the taskkill command.

Verify the service is running and obtain the process ID (pid). The pid can be obtained from the Task List in Task Manager or by running the sc queryex command.
Once the pid is identified open a command window and run the following:

Powershell.exe taskkill /f /pid

Verify the ServerHardwareManagerMonitor is in the stopped state in the Task Manager Task List.
Once stopped the installer will remove the service during the install.

If the 2.1 installer is run and the ServerHardwareManagerMonitor service is in the running state it will hang in a stopping state. At this point the only solution is to allow the installer to finish and reboot the system.
